Unfortunately We live in a world where even some who claim to be Educated show the most signs of stupidity. There is a clear difference between a child, an adolesent, and an adult for a reason. From psychological explanations you will find that a child does not know the difference between Right and Wrong. An adolesent knows what the society says is wrong or right, but is not able to form a conviction on his or her own personal values, so they are in a state of confusion as they are still finding themselves. An adult is supposed to have built personal views and conviction.
How do you expect a child or an adolesent to be able to make life changing decisions of their own. Its child abuse to marry off a growing child, because you will b exposing that child to psychologically threatening conditions.
I don't know what else anyone has to say, about a child who won't be able to speak up when she is molested. she might not even know what molestation is. So who is to intrude in a family to save a person who doesn't even know she needs saving.
Tell Yerima that if he had functioned well in his tenure, the Society around him would have been less hostile for girls and women. He should blame himself for the situation of the girls in his city.
So Nigerians please speak for our daughters.
